Tough match for Cornella; I tuned in in the middle of the second.

Ungar looked very good against DeAugustino but I feel bad for the kid whose knee looked like it took serious damage when Ungar was reversing him. He tried to continue but was pretty wise to give up once Ungar got the escape.

It's a reference to Goodfellas. When Billy Batts* gets out of prison and goes to the mob bar, he taunts Tommy DiSimone** about how he was a shoeshine boy as a kid.

* Played by Frank Vincent, known more recently for playing Phil Leotardo on the Sopranos
** Played by Joe Pesci, known for everything come on it's Joe Pesci

End of 1st 0-0 Carr and Ramirez

Escape Ramirez up 1-0 in 2nd

End of 2nd and it’s 1-0 Ramirez

Escape Carr 1-1 in 3rd and riding time not a factor

1 min left tied 1-1 stall warning on Ramirez

Takedown Ramirez!!! 4-1 with 20 seconds left

Ramirez wins 4-3!!!!

Brick thrown challenging if there was back pts on the reversal by Carr or not

Call confirmed!! Ramirez in the finals.!

Cardenas got majored by Hidlay 10-2 in the semis.
He will wrestle Sasso (Vermont) in consi semis.

Fernandes lost to Mcdermott 6-1 and will wrestle Day from Binghamton for 7th place.

Cornella will wrestle Echemendia for 7th

Ungar will wrestle Provo for 1st

Ramirez will wrestle Olejnik for 1st

Huge win for Ramirez , Carr is an all time great .
165 Still the toughest weight with 174 second toughest .

Ramirez keeps working , the IQ now, combined with time put in , and elite athleticism equals Major Results .
Not that he hasn't done this in the past , Monday wins , U23 champ , but this is another level .

Ungar with the amount of close matches he has won , overtime matches he has won , top guys he has wrestled, can't remember
a guy wrestling so many ranked guys over so short a time in his career .
He is picking up the intangibles which will coalesce even more with experience even though he has a ton of it already.

Even though Cardenas lost I did not agree with the stall calls. There was not a prolonged period in that match where
Cardenas was not trying to do something. it is just that Hidlay was so good.

they have tightened up the stalling calls for backing out, so that's why he got dinged.

disappointed to see that Cornella lost and Fernandes FFT the 7th place matches. very disappointing tournament overall, but Ungar, Ramirez and Cardenas all doing great work.
