Since Brooks and Staracci have eligibility for next year it would not surprise me were they to join the elite 4 timers .
I think Brooks has only 1 year left due to Covid extension to make four but Staracci may have 2 years left w Covid extension , He could be the one and only 5 timer.

That 5th year extension still makes no sense to me. I could see the argument for the guys who missed a shot in 2020 when the tournament was canceled but if you wrestled in the tournament in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 you should be done.

I guess that was the bribe they paid college athletes to keep everyone from taking a Covid exemption.

You are absolutely right. Why the hell do they need another year for those who will wrestle in 5 NCAA tourneys. Meanwhile guys like Chas Tucker who was 33-0 and a senior get left out. Guys like that are the only ones who should have had an option for another year. Or Kolodzik from Princeton who was redshirting that year, got talked into pulling his red shirt basically in order to make sure they beat Cornell. He wrestles about nine matches in the year and then the tournaments canceled and his senior year is gone.

Starocci has already come out and said that he will not be wrestling a 5th year and next year will be his last.

It’s funny, technically Yianni has one year of eligibility left if he wanted it. It couldn’t be for Cornell because of Ivy rules but if he wanted to be a 5x champ he could transfer and do it …which he has no interest in doing. Just thought it was funny.

Staraocci said after his match that he wanted to wrestle in the Olympics. Does he have any freestyle results that suggest he could beat DT at 186 or KD at 163 (if he could make 163)?

Starocci suggested that *this* year might have been his last. Ready to move on to Olympics and MMA.

I remember him making that comment and wondering which weight he would be shooting for. He doesn't look to have 11 extra pounds on him to drop down but 186 brings some much bigger boys to the fight.

I would think that he's rolled around in the room with both Taylor and Dake so maybe he knows something we don't.

Not exactly ESPN but Yianni named the Cornell Sun male senior athlete of the year.
