Talk about needing a home.
It's definitely Bahrain. Bahrain has a whole team, all with Russian-sounding names. The guy who beat Sad and Snyder, I read somewhere, went to Sad's wrestling school. Anyway, he's Russian.

ugh. great match from two great wrestlers. dake should have been more aggressive. his backing up to shoot from space cost him. he's genuinely elite on offense but prefers tactically to rely on his defense and today was a day where i think going for it from the jump would have been better. monday morning quarterbacking from me to be sure.

Dake was last seen out front of the arena with his shine box.

I get the reference, but am really wondering how it can be anything but stupid on every level.

The Nittany Lion Wrestling Club ....Gold winners: Taylor and Retherford , Falling short of gold : Lee, Dake, Snyder
Having five of ten US world qualifiers training at one place is in itself noteworthy. That place keeps winning undergraduate NCAA titles and has no problem recruiting top ranked HS kids. As far as US tram competition goes, kind of boring. Have to depend on international competition to make it interesting.

Dake is a wonderful athlete. Like all athletes, performance falls on a bell shaped curve. Personally. like Burroughs, I think Dake is heading down from the peak. His patented chest wraps and gut wrenches are no longer bringing opponents shoulders parallel to the mat. Electricity in the wheelhouse is flickering.

Seems to me that the chest wrap can work if the offensive wrestler does not get very deep on his his shot. Sidakov was getting pretty deep on Dake's legs so Dake could not flip him over. Perhaps ironically, it can also work if the offensive wrestler gets very deep, so deep that the defensive guy can wrap him quickly and roll him through. That's what happened to Snyder and to Taylor, too. But somehow they refs didn't give points against Taylor the say they did against Snyder.

Dake should have shot more.

if he farts out of the tournament he's going to cost russia their spot in paris
watched his match with the "bahrainian" and i think sadulaev wrestles. looks like he got conked in the back of the head like a rabbit punch with an accidental head-butt before the last go-behind. i'd be surprised if he doesn't try for the medal on a day's rest.
