Early Yianni Participation in Cornell schedule

Post by Docger »

Looks like both Y and V will skip Kaloust as usual .
Yianni will wrestle in Wisconsin dual and collegiate dual - both folk style . Skip Cliff Keen and wrestle freestyle in Coralville in the Worlds where he might meet his Iranian opponent again.

Typically the top guys do - The Binghamton Kaloust Open serves more as a warmup event and unofficial wrestle-off for the rest of the depth on the roster. Still, I always look forward to it as the unofficial start of the season as well. Binghamton schedule lists the event for November 13 - 7 weeks away! Come on November!

Anyone remember Vito losing to Chaz Tucker here? Anyone else remember Yianni beating Nick Lee his freshman year? How about Fernandes pinning Slavikouski here?

Hopefully the Vito loss to Chas was not a bad omen for 133 this year.

You mean wrestling up a weight class against a guy who eventually went 34-0 on the season?

not that you were necessarily trying to contradict the post before you but ... vito v chaz was a wrestle-off for 133 that year. true frosh yianni v (iirc) redshirt nick lee and greyshirt fernandes are all what you'd expect to see at the Bearcat.

One of the great disappointments of the Covid epidemic was the cancellation of the 2020 NCAA's - as I recall, Chas was undefeated going into NCAA's. He had a great shot at finishing a high AA, or even possibly winning it all.
